Careers

Senior work, without the pyramid.

OBIS is built as a bench of specialists, not a hierarchy of juniors. If you're excellent at one part of the data and AI stack — and you'd rather do the actual work than manage someone who does — we should talk.

How we work

Engagements are assembled from the bench: the right specialist joins at the moment their expertise is needed, and leaves the engagement better than they found it. That means no one bills time learning on a client's dime, and no one sits idle waiting for work to appear.

Most of our team works remotely across the United States on a project or fractional basis, alongside long-running client relationships that have lasted five years and counting. Senior leadership stays on every account — you'll never be dropped into a client with no context and no cover.

We look for three things: genuine depth in your craft, the judgment to ask the business question before reaching for a tool, and the communication to explain your work to someone who doesn't share your vocabulary.

Who we look for

Specialists we're always glad to meet

We don't post rigid job listings — engagements shape the need. These are the skill sets we return to most.

Forward Deployed Engineers

You embed with the client, work beside their team in their environment, and turn a stuck workflow into something shipping — fast, hands-on, allergic to hand-waving.

AI Architects

You design the retrieval, orchestration, and guardrail layers that production AI agents actually need — vendor-neutral, cost-aware, built to survive the next model release.

AI Governance Specialists

You write the usage policies, model oversight, and human-in-the-loop controls that let a client adopt AI quickly without betting the firm on it.

Data Governance Practitioners

You define metric ownership, quality rules, lineage, and stewardship so departments argue about the decision instead of the number. DAMA/CDMP fluency is a plus.

AI & Machine Learning Engineers

You build agentic workflows and production AI that hold up outside a demo — with evaluation, monitoring, and failure modes thought through in advance.

Data Engineers

You connect systems that were never designed to talk, and you automate the exports someone still does by hand every Monday.

BI & Analytics Developers

You build executive dashboards people actually open — and you care as much about metric definitions as about visuals.

Product Owners

You own the thing being built: requirements, stakeholder interviews, prototypes, and the judgment to cut scope that isn't earning its place.

Project Managers

You keep multi-workstream engagements honest — scope, cadence, dependencies, and communication clients can feel without having to chase you.

Project Team Specialists

Analysts, QA, technical writers, martech and reporting specialists — the people who make a delivery complete instead of merely finished.

The OBIS Framework

What you'd be held to

Every engagement runs through the same four lenses — whichever one you specialize in, you'll work next to the other three.

People

Your team learns to trust, read, and act on the numbers — through training, upskilling, and hands-on enablement.

Process

Reporting rituals, meeting scoreboards, and decision workflows get redesigned around reliable, real-time information.

Technology

The right platforms — business intelligence, cloud data, and AI — selected for your stack and budget, not the vendor's.

Data

Clean, connected, governed data foundations that make every number upstream of a decision worth trusting.
